SoberApp

SoberApp main goal is to prevent from young adult (18-30) drivers who are under the influence of alcohol to drive.

We strive to achieve this goal by understanding the limitation of the approachable devices that exists today such as (Breathalyzer, BMI calculation etc).

Knowing that specific abilities are "damaged" while being intoxicated. We believe that there is sufficient media coverage for "drunk driving" but at a specific moment when a person is asking himself whether he can drive he has little information about the current affect of alcohol over him, and that is exactly where we want to make a difference.

After extensive research we found that a person who is intoxicated will suffer from at least one or more of these symptoms:

  • Decreased reaction time

  • Unbalanced coordination

  • Decreased cognitive function

  • Impaired decision-making

We decided to raise the awareness of the users who will use SoberApp by conducting a series (3-4) of small test, each target one of the symptoms above and creating a report for the user about his/her status.

We do so by grading each test to a sum total and presenting it on scale.

Showing the user where we think he or she is currently stands.

Moreover, we show the user our own statistics about people who were scored the same as him, and chose not to drive. We provide the user with a solution to his/her inability to drive by using the GPS and connecting him/her to the nearest taxi station or offering him to send a text message to a friend.

We calibrate our the app for the user when he/she first use it, we do so by letting them know we want to calibrate and conducting a bit longer and more informative tests so we can get a good amount of data to compare to.

It is important to understand we DO NOT encourage users to drive, even if they "passed" the tests.

We will still give them a "heads up" about the fact that even if they passed it's not recommended to drive after drinking and remind them that it's always better to be safe than sorry.

We will only recommend NOT driving. We hope to convince the users by giving them kind of "second opinion" and using the SOCIAL effect known as "peer pressure" so they see that others in their place did not drive, and maybe even their friends who saw them fail will get a sense of responsibility and ask them not drive.
